Vu Thi Trang and Bui Bich Phuong entered the semi-final match against the Indonesian athletes Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias puspita Sari. Against a highly rated opponent, the Vietnamese representative played hard but could not create a surprise, losing after two sets with scores of 10-21 and 9-21. With this result, Vu Thi Trang and Bui Bich Phuong won the bronze medal, in the format of not organizing the third-place match.
This is the first medal of Vietnamese badminton at the 33rd SEA Games, marking an improvement compared to the 2023 SEA Games when the team did not win any titles.
Vu Thi Trang, an experienced badminton player of Vietnam, competed with Bui Bich Phuong to strive and contribute to the bronze medal achievement, thereby bringing awards to the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
At this year's SEA Games, Vietnamese badminton will not participate in the men's and women's doubles event. In the women's singles, Nguyen Thuy Linh soon stopped against the Indonesian tennis player. In the context of regional powers such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand maintaining their superior position, the bronze medal of the women's doubles is considered a remarkable result for Vietnamese badminton.
