Recently, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation received an email from the Indonesian National Volleyball Championship, regarding the invitation for Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen to compete in the upcoming 2025 season.
Previously, there were some international teams interested in Bich Tuyen, but this is the first official invitation to go abroad for the 2000-born player.
Thus, the captain of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has the opportunity to go abroad to compete like her senior Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
Previously, Thanh Thuy was the first and most frequently played volleyball player in Vietnam. The Binh Duong player has played abroad 5 times for Bangkok Glass VC (Thailand), Attack Line (Taiwan - China), Denso Airybees, PFU BlueCats (Japan) and currently Kuzeyboru (Türkiye).
Training and competing in foreign teams helped Thanh Thuy develop her expertise, prove her ability and become a pillar of the national team. In addition, when playing alongside international volleyball stars, the 27-year-old female striker also gained more experience and confidence.
As for Bich Tuyen, she once expressed her desire to go abroad if she had the chance. This is the time when the 2000-born setter enters the prime of her career, so being exposed to international competition environments helps her develop her abilities.
At the same time, when moving to Indonesia, Thailand or Japan, Vietnamese athletes themselves will have to make many times more efforts to integrate and find opportunities to compete.
In addition to Thanh Thuy and Bich Tuyen, at the end of last year, two other players, Doan Thi Lam Oanh and Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, also had the opportunity to go to Supreme Chonburi E.Tech (Thailand) for a short-term competition.
In recent times, Vietnamese volleyball has participated in many international tournaments. The national team has competed in the Asian Championship, the World Championship, the SEA V.League and a number of friendly tournaments. Meanwhile, clubs such as LPB Ninh Binh and Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals have also competed in the Asian and World Championships at the club level.
From these playgrounds, Vietnamese athletes can score points with scouts or international teams. If they perform well, they have a chance to receive invitations to go abroad, even if it is just a short-term exchange contract.
