The New York Post reported that Cevher Toktas, a player playing for Bursa Yildirimspor in the Turkish Regional Amateur League (Türkiye's 5th Division) has confessed to killing his 5-year-old biological child Kasim.
On April 23, suspected of having a son infected with COVID-19, Cevher Toktas took Kasim to Dortcelik Children's Hospital in Bursa with a fever and cough. The 32-year-old player warned the doctor about Kasim's difficulty breathing. And just a few days later, Kasim died in a special ward.
On May 4, Cevher Toktas suddenly went to the local police station to confess to the murder. In the statement, the murderer said he used a pillow to cover Kasim's face for 15 minutes, at that time there were only 2 people in the room. After the victim stopped breathing, Cevher shouted to the doctors and nurses to cover up the crime.
Regarding the reason for surrender, Cevher Toktas said that he had a broken conscience and was not related to neurological problems. The police shared that the coldness during the questioning process, based on Cevher Toktas' testimony, made the listener have a scary hair. According to Turkish law, Cevher Toktas will be sentenced to life in prison for murder.
