On June 23, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Bui Manh Hung - Chairman of Thai Son Commune People's Committee confirmed the incident that occurred last night at the overflow dam in Minh Thai village 1.
"A car traveling from Tuyen Quang to Ha Giang, due to the wrong road, passed through the spillway, the floodwaters rose rapidly, sweeping away the car. People helped get the 5 people in the car out safely.
Currently, the flood water in the area has receded, and vehicles can circulate normally. The car that was swept away will be lifted by a crane," the leader added.
According to the Office for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Tuyen Quang province, on June 21 and 22, heavy rain occurred continuously in many areas in the province, causing floods on river and stream systems.
People need to be vigilant, absolutely do not travel through the spillway areas when the water level rises. Localities proactively plan, put up warning signs, assign people to be on duty at vulnerable locations to ensure safety.
