The match between Svay Rieng Club (Cambodia) and Bangkok United (Thailand) in the last round of Group B of the Southeast Asian Club Championship 2025-2026 will take place at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi) at 6:30 PM on April 22.
Initially, this match was scheduled to take place at Svay Rieng's home ground in January 2026. However, Bangkok United refused to move to Cambodia to play. After that, the Association of Southeast Asian Football (AFF) decided to choose Hang Day Stadium as a neutral venue.
Although both Svay Rieng and Bangkok United have run out of chances to qualify for the next round, the match is still scheduled according to the tournament schedule.
Speaking at a press conference on April 21, coach Totchtawan Sripan of Bangkok United said that the match result no longer affects the group situation, but safety is still put first. He also sees this as an opportunity for the young players of the Thai team to show their ability.
Meanwhile, coach Matthew McConkey of Svay Rieng admitted that the change of venue made it difficult for the Cambodian team in preparation due to schedule changes.
Svay Rieng player Yudai Ogawa assessed the match against Bangkok United as an opportunity for the Cambodian representative to affirm their ability against a strong opponent in the region, and also said that Cambodian clubs can completely compete fairly in the Southeast Asian arena.
