On the sidelines of the signing and announcement ceremony for the Vietnam women's volleyball team (6.): the main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy shared about her journey to compete abroad.
The female player born in 1997 said: "I have experience playing abroad, but in reality, it is not always successful, there are still failures. However, from these trips abroad and the process of competing and learning in many places, I will have to look back at myself, what is achievable and what is not achievable".
Previously, in January 2025, Thanh Thuy had just parted ways with Gresik Petrokimia (Indonesia) to return home after only 1 month, although the initial contract of both sides lasted for 1 season. This is also Thanh Thuy's shortest trip abroad ever.
Similarly, the female striker from Binh Duong also faced a disadvantage in her trip abroad to Kuzeyboru (Türkiye) at the end of last year due to injury.
Thanh Thuy's most successful period was her time at PFU BlueCats club (Japan). Here, she had many opportunities to play, making a strong impression with high performance.
In addition, in his career, the Vietnamese player has played for Bangkok Glass (Thailand), attack Line (Taiwan, China); or Denso Airybees (Japan).
Talking about the opportunities for Vietnamese female players to go abroad in the coming time, Thanh Thuy said: "I think that Vietnamese athletes still have the opportunity to compete abroad, but there are some limitations as coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once shared, related to the decision of the home club as well as the time of competing in the domestic tournament. However, I think that Vietnamese players can still go abroad.
As for my experience playing abroad, I will try to show that on the training ground as well as in competitions".
