President of the World Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino expressed his desire to build a FIFA Football Academy in Vietnam

Speaking at the sideline meeting of the 47th ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Mr. Infantino highly appreciated the clear progress of Vietnamese football in recent years.

According to the head of FIFA, the Vietnamese teams are increasingly showing their mettle, technical ability and physical strength compared to before.

The FIFA President said that the establishment of the FIFA Football Academy in Vietnam will help improve the capacity to train young players as well as standardize the professional football system. This is also a step to connect and expand international cooperation, especially in the field of developing grassroots football.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is expected to play a focal role in coordinating with FIFA in researching and implementing an academy model suitable for domestic conditions.

If implemented, the project will open up great opportunities for young Vietnamese players to access a world-class training environment, thereby creating a solid foundation for national teams in the future.

President Gianni Infantino also affirmed that FIFA will continue to accompany Vietnam in football development programs in Southeast Asia, aiming to improve the level of continental football in the coming period.
