According to the plan, the old ginger leaf grass will be replaced with needle leaf grass. This is a popular type of grass in modern football fields.
Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, workers dismantled equipment on the field such as electronic billboards, corner flags, frames, etc. to prepare for the current weed separation work.
The ginger leaf grass surface at Pleiku Stadium has been used since before 1975, which is more than 50 years old.
Many fans of Hoang Anh Gia Lai were present at the stadium in the morning of the same day to ask for the old plots of grass to be brought back to plant as souvenirs.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh - Executive Director of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club said: "Immediately after the final match of V.League 2024-2025 with Quang Nam, we started construction on behalf of the grass to ensure completion before the opening day of the new season on August 15.
The switch to using weeds will help improve the quality of the pitch, better serving the team's outstanding technical play".
In addition to Pleiku Arena, Hoang Anh Gia Lai club is also testing a new type of grass at a training ground in Ham Rong.
This is a step to assess the ability of the leaves and grass to adapt to local soil conditions, while ensuring training for the first team and nearly 200 young players of the team.
