Vietnam No. 1 tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh will enter the final of the 2025 Canada Open badminton tournament at 00:30 on July 7 (Vietnam time) against opponent Manami Suizu.
The winner will receive a prize of 18,000 USD (nearly 500 million VND) and 7,000 reward points. The second-place tennis player will receive 9,120 USD and 5,950 points. This is the biggest reward in her career that Nguyen Thuy Linh has ever had the opportunity to win.
Previously, the tennis player from Phu Tho had twice reached the finals of the World Tour Super 300 system (Germany Open 2024 and 2025) but all stopped at the runner-up position. This time, fans expect Thuy Linh to break the curse to win the championship.
However, the challenge for her is not small. Manami Suizu (21 years old, ranked 35th in the world) has qualified for the first time to play in a final match of the tournament at the World Tour Super 300 level.
Although she is still young, she is in very good form. This tennis player just defeated the No. 1 seed Michelle Li (Canada, 19th in the world) in the semi-finals to register her name for the championship match.
In the past, Suizu won against Thuy Linh at the 2023 Korea Masters. This was also the last time the two tennis players met.
On the rise of her form and with a determined spirit, Nguyen Thuy Linh is expected to reap the biggest title in her career, thereby creating a new milestone for Vietnamese badminton in the international arena.
