Today (6.), tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh competed in round 1 of the 2025 Indonesian Open Badminton Tournament. Her opponent is Natsuki Nidaira - a tennis player ranked 20th in the world, 4 places above the representative of Vietnam on the rankings of the World Badminton Federation (BWF).
In January, Thuy Linh beat the Japanese tennis player with a score of 2-0. However, the Vietnamese tennis player is still struggling with the mentality when entering today's match. She kept making mistakes in asking for directions. However, because the opponent did not start well, she took the advantage before taking a 14-9 lead.
However, Thuy Linh could not maintain the advantage. She repeatedly ruined the remaining time. From here, the opponent equalized and took the lead, before narrowly winning 23-21 in set 1.
In game 2, the game continued to struggle. Despite being behind 12-16, Thuy Linh showed commendable efforts when they drew 16-16 and continued to chase fiercely until 20-20,
However, the Japanese tennis player's bravery spoke up at the right time. Natsuki Nidaira took advantage of Thuy Linh's mistakes to win set 2 with a score of 22-20.
In the end, Thuy Linh lost 0-2 to Natsuki Nidaira after 51 minutes of play, thereby stopping right from round 1 of this year's tournament.
This result means Thuy Linh no longer has a chance to improve her position on the rankings. According to the plan, the No. 1 female badminton player in Vietnam will participate in the US Open Super 300 and the Canada Open Super 300 in July.
These two tournaments are an opportunity for Thuy Linh to accumulate more points, thereby improving her ranking on the world rankings.
