On August 15th, according to competition time in Singapore, the chess players completed the rapid chess event at the 2026 Southeast Asian Youth Chess Championships.
The U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 men's and women's groups compete in rapid chess with 7 sets according to the Swiss system.
The Vietnamese youth chess team won 12 individual gold medals from the competition results.
Among these, 3 championship results were noticed by experts in the U20 women's, U16 men's and U18 men's groups.
In the U16 men's group, player Dau Khuong Duy excellently achieved a score of 6 points after 7 sets and won the No. 1 position convincingly. Khuong Duy did not lose a set and won 5 and drew 2 against his opponents.
In the U18 men's group, Eddie Peng is runner-up with 5.5 points after 7 games.
The champion in this group is Dinh Nho Kiet. Nho Kiet has a total of 5.5 points but achieved a better sub-ratio, so he is ranked above Eddie Peng to win the championship.
In the women's U20 group, chess player Nguyen Hong Nhung won a gold medal with an undefeated result in 7 games and a total of 6.5 points.
In addition to the above results, the Vietnamese Youth Chess Team also won individual gold medals in rapid chess in some competition achievements of chess players Nguyen Tung Quan (U14 men), Nguyen Quang Anh (U12 men), Mai Duy Hung (U10 men), Vu Hao Nhien (U8 men), Le Thai Hoang Anh (U16 women), Tong Thai Hoang An (U14 women), Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (U12 women), Nguyen Duc Huyen My (U8 women)...
Chess players will also compete in the final event, the blitz chess, before the tournament closes.
