In the early morning of September 14, 10 chess players including Dau Khuong Duy, Banh Gia Huy, Nguyen Quoc Hy, Pham Tran Gia Phuc, Nguyen Hoang Nam and Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Vo Thi Kim Phung, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, Luong Phuong Hanh, Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong went to Uzbekistan.
The tournament will compete in 11 standard chess games according to the Swiss system with the first opening on September 16, local time.
The overall results of the men's and women's teams will be calculated from the total performance of the chess players through each match.
In the men's event, player Dau Khuong Duy is the player with the highest elo rating among the 5 faces of Vietnam who will compete. Khuong Duy currently has elo rating 2509.
In the women's event, chess player Pham Le Thao Nguyen is the female face of Vietnam with the highest elo rating (elo 2348).
2 years ago, young chess players Bang Gia Huy and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong participated in the Olympiad in Hungary. At that time, the Vietnamese men's chess team ranked 25th and the Vietnamese women's chess team ranked 23rd overall.
This year, Bang Gia Huy (17 years old), Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong (23 years old) continued to be awarded slots to compete in the 2026 Olympiad.
Meanwhile, Dau Khuong Duy (15 years old), Nguyen Quoc Hy (20 years old), Pham Tran Gia Phuc (17 years old) are the first people to compete in the FIDE World Chess Olympiad.
