The 2026 Amateur Team Chess Championship Cup (fast chess content) - World Team Amateur Rapid Chess Cup 2026 - held in Hong Kong (China) closed the final rounds on the evening of June 21 local time.
Vietnam has young players Nguyen Duy Dat, Tran Minh Hieu, Hoang Minh Hieu, Nguyen Anh Bao Thy, Mai Duc Kien, Huynh Phuc Minh Phuong participating. The player registered the team name as Golden Stars.
In the first phase, the Organizing Committee drew lots for 48 teams to enter 2 groups A and B (24 teams each group) to play in a round-robin format to calculate points.
After 9 matches, the young Vietnamese player led Group A, winning the right to enter the knockout round for the championship against the leader of Group B, Bosoo Noyon.
At the end of the final match, the young Vietnamese chess players won, thereby winning the championship cup of the amateur team world championship (fast chess) 2026.
This tournament belongs to a program organized by the International Chess Federation FIDE, attracting young amateur chess players from around the world to participate. In the representative squad of Vietnamese chess, chess player Nguyen Duy Dat is the person with the highest elo rating (1994).
With the victory at the tournament, the young chess team representing Vietnam received a prize of 10,000 euros (nearly 300 million VND) from the Organizing Committee. In this tournament in the professional competition system, Vietnam had player Le Quang Liem participate but did not win the championship with his team in 2 rapid chess and blitz chess events.
