The 2026 National Team Chess Championship closed the final day of competition on June 21 in Ninh Binh.
On the last day, players in the men's, women's and mixed doubles groups competed in the final set.
In the men's group in the final round, round 9, player Nguyen Quoc Hy (HCMC) won against opponent Ngo Thanh Tung (Hue) to achieve a total of 8 overall points. Quoc Hy won the No. 1 position in standard chess individual achievements.
Ranked second individually is player To Nhat Minh (Can Tho, 7.5 points) and third is player Nguyen Van Huy (Hanoi, 6.5 points).
However, the tournament counts team points to award medals. The organizers stipulate that the team results of each team will be based on the achievements of the 4 highest-ranked players.
In the final results, players from Ho Chi Minh City including Nguyen Quoc Hy, Dang Anh Minh, Le Tri Kien, and Tran Vo Quoc Bao won gold medals.
In the women's individual category, chess player Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (HCMC) held the No. 1 position with a total score of 7.5 after 9 matches. The HCMC women's standard chess team had 4 chess players with the best scores: Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, Nguyen My Hanh Nhan (7 points), Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong (6.5 points), Ton Nu Quynh Duong (6.5 points), thereby winning the No. 1 position, receiving a gold medal.
In addition to the above results, in the mixed doubles performance, the Ho Chi Minh City team also won a gold medal when 2 chess players Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Dang Hoang Son ranked first after 7 matches of competition.
