On July 4, in Hanoi, a Cooperation Agreement was held between the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and Dreamax Technology Joint Stock Company on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in training to improve sports performance, period 2025-2030.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports - shared: "In recent times, Vietnamese sports have achieved achievements in regional and continental competitions, with the Party and State investing in the best facilities, regimes and training conditions for athletes to shine. Towards higher goals at the ASIAD and the Olympics, we must make more efforts.
Currently, Vietnamese sports partly apply technology to training and competition but still face some barriers and problems, as well as limited technology.
Therefore, today's cooperation agreement is the premise for the Department of Physical Education and Sports to pilot 4 sports from now until the end of the year, then can widely apply from next year".
Mr. Hoang Viet said that the new technology will rely on data to substantially assess the index and the physical adaptation of athletes. According to the plan, next week, the Department of Physical Education and Sports will develop an implementation plan for the athletics department and implement it within 2-3 months, if all goes well, it will expand to other sports.
"The application of AI technology may be difficult in the initial stage, but I hope that the staff, coaches and athletes will try harder to reap the rewards," emphasized the Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
According to the supplier's representative, the application of AI technology will optimize training and optimize the achievements of each individual. The indicators will be collected from the athlete monitoring device (including environmental factors, space...), then conducted behavior analysis, and forecasted injury risk.

Previously, at a working session with the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports on June 23, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that this is the right period to deploy the application of AI in training to improve sports achievements.
The Deputy Minister requested relevant parties to urgently develop a detailed plan and implement it as soon as possible. In the next 2 months, it is necessary to collect initial information to support the work of evaluating and preparing forces and lists of athletes for the 33rd SEA Games.
"The implementation plan needs to ensure timely assessment of the training results of athletes, support the training and selection of teams. I suggest that it should be urgently deployed, not leaving long thunderstorms. This is a turning point activity for the sports industry.
In the immediate future, it will be applied to 4 sports, which are also 4 key sports. When implemented well, it will continue to increase" - Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized.
The Deputy Minister also requested that after each year of implementation, there must be working sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
