Cong Phuong is not on the list of 20 players registered by coach Marc Brys for the match against Eupen. His position in midfield has been replaced by the 32-year-old rookie who signed on August 27, Steven De Ridder.
This is the second time Cong Phuong has not been on the list of players registered to play for Sint Truiden Club this season. The first time he was left out was in round 3, when coach Marc Brys' team won 2-1 against Standard Liege on August 11.
In midweek, Cong Phuong was included in the youth team of Sint Truidense against Club Brugge. This was a match in which the Vietnamese striker made his mark with his first goal in Belgium. However, what he has shown is not enough for the Vietnamese striker to be given a chance by coach Sint Truidense.
In the previous round, Cong Phuong was on the bench of STVV in the 0-2 loss to Royal Antwerp but was not used by coach Marc Brys in 3 substitutions. Up to 4 rounds of the Belgian championship, Cong Phuong has only appeared for 20 short minutes in the loss to Club Brugge 0-6 and has not left any impression.
Although not allowed to play, Cong Phuong still has to go to Belgium to train, and cannot return to the Vietnam national team early due to compliance with FIFA Days regulations.
On September 2, Cong Phuong will fly from Belgium to Thailand, gathering with his teammates to prepare for the opening match of the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia against Thailand.
