Hope from the women's 4x400m
The Vietnam Athletics Team will participate in the 2025 Asian Championship, taking place in Gumi (Korea) from May 27 to May 31. All key event groups of Vietnam's athletics will participate in this tournament.
The women's 4x400m relay team is still a great hope for Vietnam's athletics in the upcoming tournament. At the 2023 Asian Athletics Championship, the group of 4 athletes, Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh and Nguyen Thi Hang, won gold medals.
In this year's tournament, Nguyen Thi Huyen was replaced by Quach Thi Lan. Therefore, the current women's 4x400m team will include athletes Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Quach Thi Lan, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh and Nguyen Thi Hang.
The requirement for Vietnam's athletics at the 2025 Asian Championship is to ensure the gold medal as in 2023. Therefore, the women's 4x400m relay team for women is still a great hope for the team.

Talking to Lao Dong, athlete Quach Thi Lan said: "The athletics team is actively practicing according to the plan of each team and group coach. We have just participated in the Ho Chi Minh City United Speed Cup 2025, the parameters are considered temporarily stable. Everyone is trying very hard and determined to practice and achieve the highest results in the Asian Championship.
There is still about a month until the above tournament, so the whole team cannot currently assess whether the parameters are at a stable level or not. We only focus on improving the parameters day by day.
The coaching staff is providing a curriculum to increase intensity rather than quantity. We train at a high intensity and focus more on the game. For me personally, I am still physically and mentally weak. Therefore, I am receiving close guidance from coach Vu Ngoc Loi. Hopefully, I will make better progress in the future".
A stepping stone for the 33rd SEA Games
Athlete Quach Thi Lan shared: "The team's coaching staff always encourages us in the process of preparing for the 2025 Asian Championship. We identify the tournament in Korea as a stepping stone towards the 33rd SEA Games. The coaching staff does not put much pressure on us to achieve results in the upcoming Asian tournament".
The 33rd SEA Games will take place in December this year in Thailand. The Vietnam Athletics Team has gathered all professional groups starting from January. Thus, Vietnam Athletics has more than 11 months of professional preparation for this year's Games.
The Asian Championship 2025 is one of the important tournaments in the process of accumulating towards the 33th SEA Games. It is expected that the tournament in Korea will have the participation of leading athletes in the continent. Therefore, this is considered a useful test for Vietnamese athletics towards the 33rd SEA Games, further, Asiad 20 takes place in 2026.

At the 32nd SEA Games (taking place in 2023), Vietnam's athletics won 12 gold medals, 20 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals. This year, Vietnam's athletics is more cautious to outline the goal of striving to win 12 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games.
Contents such as 400m hurdles, long jumps, 4x400m relay and walking are still the strengths of Vietnam's athletics. The team's immediate goal is to have good results in the Asian tournament, thereby creating good psychological and professional momentum for this year's SEA Games.
