Reshaping Vietnamese sports after the 33rd SEA Games

Hoài Việt |

The results (positive, and negative) of the Vietnam Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand are the basis for managers to review and carefully reshape investment in international missions immediately afterwards.

Sports need achievements

In the role of advising and grasping practical competitions with Head of the Vietnam Sports delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Head of the delegation Hoang Quoc Vinh said that the results achieved by each coach and athlete are the efforts from the preparation, forecasting and professional analysis before and during the competition.

"However, in reality, to evaluate correctly, we need to achieve a Gold Medal, which will bring more practical value" - Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh shared.

Meanwhile, Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh acknowledged that up to now, the Vietnam Sports Delegation has achieved 3 goals set before participating in the 33rd SEA Games, including: Maintaining and enhancing regional sports and protecting the goal of achieving football; breaking through key Olympic sports; building the image of civilized Vietnamese sports in front of friends in the region.

In terms of expertise, the Vietnam Sports Delegation won more than 70 Gold Medals. In which, the Gold Medal in the Olympic sport in the 33rd SEA Games program was won in athletics, swimming, shooting, weightlifting, gymnastics, taekwondo, fencing, rowing, canoeing, weightlifting, etc.

Preliminary statistics show that the results of the Gold Medals in the Olympic group are accounting for 70% of the total Gold Medals of the Vietnam Sports Delegation in Thailand this year.

It is undeniable that there are unsuccessful results, but we are satisfied with the results of Olympic sports to make a breakthrough. More than 50 Gold Medals were brought from Olympic sports. From here, Vietnamese sports will continue to have a more specific investment orientation and will focus on opportunities to compete for achievements at the upcoming ASIAD or win a place to participate in the Olympics - Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh added.

The pressure on the manager is huge because we are struggling on the last day to find an opportunity to complete the target of Gold Medals (reaching over 90 Gold Medals) as well as being in the top group at SEA Games 33. Today, December 20, the Vietnam Sports Delegation will determine its final ranking at the 33rd SEA Games.

Sports also need sharing

With the spirit of competing wholeheartedly for the national flag and shirt, bringing glory to the Fatherland, members of the Vietnam Sports Delegation participated in 47 sports and sub-sports at the 33rd SEA Games. On the last day (December 20), we still have competition to compete for decisive results in cloud bridge and open water swimming.

Sports for sustainable development depend not only on a few Congresses but also on receipt from society. Each family supports their children to pursue sports, along with socialization from Federations and Associations, to help improve the quality of the regime for athletes.

The leaders of the Vietnam Sports Delegation found that from the results of the 33rd SEA Games, the coordination between coaches, managers and professional scientists is an important factor in helping sports develop effectively and synchronously.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, the athlete force is a central factor in sports competition. A big challenge for Vietnamese sports is the issue of naturalizing athletes from some countries in the region. To improve the quality of training, we need to invest heavily in facilities and apply science and technology to the training process.

The Vietnamese sports delegation assessed that in addition to the valuable U22 men's football championship, the 33rd SEA Games recognized many young Vietnamese players who have affirmed their expertise and are future hopes such as Ta Ngoc Tuong, Le Thi Cam Tu (athletics), Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, Nguyen Thuy Hien, Duong Van Hoang Quy (swimming), Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting)...
