Vietnamese boxing team loses 2 semi-final matches of the 2026 Youth Olympic Qualifiers

The boxer of the Vietnamese Youth Boxing Team reached 2 semi-finals but did not win as expected.

On March 14 in Bangkok (Thailand), the Vietnamese youth boxing team had 2 players participating in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Boxing Futures Cup international tournament. This is the 2026 Youth Olympic qualifying round for boxing organized by the World Boxing Federation (World Boxing). The events are for U19 male and female athletes.

In the women's over 80kg weight class semi-final, martial artist Le Thi Quynh Anh lost to opponent Francis Taafaki (Tuvalu archipelago). In the next semi-final in the women's 80kg weight class, martial artist Dam Thi Mai Anh also lost to Aidana Ubaidullakyzy (Kazakhstan).

The Vietnamese youth boxing team had martial artist Nguyen Trong Tien enter the quarterfinals of the men's 80kg weight class, however, the athlete lost to Timur Taibekov (Kazakhstan) so he did not have a ticket to the semi-finals.

The 2026 World Boxing Futures Cup will have final matches on March 15, local time.

After the tournament, the World Boxing Federation will announce the official slots to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics held in October in Senegal.

The Vietnamese youth boxing team has 9 boxers participating in the tournament in Bangkok (Thailand). The results of Quynh Anh and Mai Anh are the best achievements in the events we participated in.

The boxing event of the 2026 Youth Olympics has 120 official slots (60 men, 60 women) to compete in Senegal. The Games will compete in 5 men's and 5 women's weight classes.
