On May 13, we have weightlifter Nguyen Hoai Huong participating in the women's 53kg weight class at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships held in China.
Hoai Huong is 1 of 12 weightlifters competing in group A of the weight class. She succeeded with a weight of 87kg in the snatch event. This achievement helped Hoai Huong get a bronze medal. In the clean and jerk event, weightlifter Hoai Huong achieved a result of 108kg to get a silver medal in the event. In total, Hoai Huong achieved a result of 195kg. The result also helped her get a silver medal.
Thus, Hoai Huong won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal in the women's 53kg weight class at this year's tournament.
In this competition, weightlifter Zhao Jinlan (China) won absolutely when winning 3 gold medals in the 53kg weight class. The Chinese female athlete has a snatch weight of 95kg, a swing weight of 121kg and a total weight of 216kg. At the tournament, third place in total weightlift was host athlete India Yadav Gyanesshwari (achievement 194kg).
The Vietnamese weightlifting team registered 5 athletes to compete in this year's tournament. Up to this point, athletes Nguyen Hoai Huong and Lai Gia Thanh have won medals.
