Late on May 13 (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese weightlifting team won 2 more bronze medals at the 2026 Asian Championships.
On the women's 58kg weight class competition floor, weightlifter Quang Thi Tam was the one who won an additional medal for the Vietnam Weightlifting Team. Quang Thi Tam achieved a snatch result of 99kg, clean and jerk of 122kg and total lift of 221kg.
The clean and jerk and total lift achievements helped Quang Thi Tam receive 2 bronze medals in the women's 58kg category at the 2026 Asian Championships.
Also at this competition, weightlifter Kim Il-gyong (North Korean People's Republic) was the top with a gold medal when he achieved a total lift of 230kg. Chinese athlete Wei Tingna has a silver medal with a total lift of 225kg.
As of now, the Vietnamese weightlifting team has temporarily 2 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
The athletes who won medals so far are Lai Gia Thanh, Nguyen Hoai Huong, Quang Thi Tam. On the temporary standings of the tournament, the Organizing Committee recorded that 7 teams had athletes winning medals through snatch, clean and jerk and total.
The Vietnamese weightlifting team participates in the tournament with 5 athletes. We set a goal to strive for the best results in India. The 2026 Asian Championship will continue in the following days.
