Previously, Hai Phong was one of two teams in the V.League that were only licensed under conditions, along with Dong A Thanh Hoa.
According to the request from the VFF Licensing Board, clubs must complete procedures and provide documents proving that there are no more overdue debts to employees, tax authorities and social organizations.
Despite being licensed to participate in the new season, Hai Phong was still fined 50 million VND for submitting applications late compared to the prescribed deadline.
Previously, on May 23, the VFF Licensing Board issued a decision to revoke Hai Phong's V.League 2026-2027 participation license because it had not completed the necessary financial procedures. However, the port city team then sent a complaint and explained the reason for the slow payment stemming from the fact that some sponsors had not disbursed the money on schedule.
Being licensed helps Hai Phong continue to participate in the V.League next season, but this team is predicted to face many difficulties in terms of force and expertise.
After the 2025-2026 season closed, a series of key players left Lach Tray stadium. Hai Phong also parted ways with coach Chu Dinh Nghiem.
Under coach Chu Dinh Nghiem, Hai Phong is considered one of the teams with a clear identity in the V.League. Although not possessing many stars, the home team of Lach Tray once competed for the top group and won the V.League runner-up title.
However, financial difficulties are still a big problem for Hai Phong for many years. The team mainly operates based on local support and the companionship of some businesses, while the ability to generate revenue is not really stable.
In the 2026-2027 season, coach Dang Van Thanh will take on the task of leading the team. The new coaching staff not only needs to maintain a unique playing style but also needs to ensure achievements in the context of many changes in the force.
