In the afternoon of July 12 at the Ninh Binh Provincial Sports Center, the 2026 Southeast Asian Karate Championship closed.
The final day of competition only took place in 4 team medal events: kata team (performance) men, women; kumite team (combat) men, women.
The Vietnamese karate team has participated in 4 finals of the above events.
In the women's team kata final, the Vietnamese team 1 with martial artists Bui Ngoc Nhi, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Hoang Thi Thu Huyen and Linh Thi Mai Hue (reserve) won 5-0 against the Thai team. The victory helped the Vietnamese women's kata martial artist win a gold medal.
Also in the men's team kata final, Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 teams met to compete for the championship.
With professional advantage and even coordination in the performance, Vietnam 1 team (Pham Minh Duc, Giang Viet Anh, Bui Chi Cong, Le Nguyen Thai Hung) won and won a gold medal.
Meanwhile, the women's team kumite final is the match between Vietnam 1 team and Malaysia.
Showing their best form, the boxers of Vietnam 1 team including Hoang Thi My Tam, Dinh Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, Nguyen Thi Thu won 2-1 against Malaysia to be crowned champions.
In the men's team kumite event, Vietnam Team 1 defeated Vietnam Team 2 in the final and won a gold medal.
Winning 4 more gold medals on the last day, the Vietnamese karate team completed the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship with a total of 29 gold medals, 31 silver medals, 32 bronze medals.
We won first place. Second place is the Indonesian team (13 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 19 bronze medals). Third place is the Malaysian team with 6 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 18 bronze medals.
The Southeast Asian Karate Federation has agreed to grant the right to host the 2027 Championship to Malaysia.
