Hoang Thi My Tam and members of the Vietnam Karate Team competed effectively on July 11 at the Ninh Binh Provincial Sports Center, currently the team has won 25 gold medals so far.
July 11th was the penultimate day of the tournament. Martial artist Hoang Thi My Tam participated in the 61kg weight class final. She competed against opponent Adnan Zakiah (Malaysia).
Before participating in the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship, Hoang Thi My Tam set a goal to win the championship.
On the competition floor, the key female martial artist of the Vietnam Karate Team completed her goal. With the ability to strike decisively, My Tam won with a score of 8-0 in the final match.
Last year at the 2025 Southeast Asian Championships in Brunei, Hoang Thi My Tam also won a gold medal.
On the same competition day, important boxers of the Vietnam Karate Team such as Dinh Thi Huong (over 68kg for women), Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly (68kg for women), Dang Hong Son (67kg for men), Truong Nam Tien (55kg for men), Nguyen Chi Thanh (84kg for men)... all won gold medals.
2026 Asian champion, martial artist Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly won in the final in Ninh Binh this time after overcoming teammate Tran Thi Quynh Anh with a result of 7-1.
On the temporary overall standings, the Vietnamese karate team is holding the first position with 25 gold medals, 29 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals.
The second position is currently the Indonesian team with 13 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.
The Malaysian team is temporarily ranked third (6 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 16 bronze medals). Followed by teams from Thailand, Cambodia...
The tournament will close on July 12th after the final team events are organized.
