The official competition program of the 2026 Southeast Asian Karate Championship takes place from July 9 to July 12.
The organizers said that the preparation of facilities for the Ninh Binh Provincial Sports and Physical Training Center has been ensured.
This year, the tournament attracted 11 teams from 11 countries in the region to compete, including Vietnam (host), Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste, and Brunei.
Last year in Brunei, the 2025 Southeast Asian Karate Championship had 9 teams participating to compete for the prescribed professional medal sets.
This year's tournament in Vietnam will compete for 17 sets of medals for the kumite (combat) and kata (performance) events for the championship system.
In addition, the 2026 Southeast Asian Karate Championship also competes in events for teenagers, young people and U21s.
Vietnam was the host of the 2014 and 2018 Southeast Asian Karate Championships. In this 3rd time, we recorded nearly 400 athletes from 11 teams registered to participate.
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese karate team aims to achieve the highest achievements and defend the No. 1 position in the overall rankings achieved at last year's tournament.
