Vietnam archery team wins first Asian medal in 2026

The archers of the Vietnamese archery team won 3 medals at the 2026 Asian Cup just concluded in Thailand.

On March 28, the 2026 Asian Archery Cup ended in Thailand. In this tournament, the Vietnamese archery team won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

In the men's individual recurve event, athlete Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu reached the final. In the championship shootout, Phi Vu focused on competing but lost narrowly 5-6 to opponent Torgubaev Bair, so he received a silver medal.

Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu was a professionally skilled archer from Hai Duong (old) (now Hai Phong).

The archer participated in the 2020 Olympics in Japan. However, since the above tournament, Phi Vu has not participated in the Vietnamese archery team.

From 2026, Phi Vu will be given the opportunity to return to the Vietnamese archery team and immediately achieve international achievements with a mark at the 2026 Asian Cup.

In addition to the above results, Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu also won a bronze medal in the mixed men's and women's recurve team event at the 2026 Asian Cup. This archer competed with teammate Loc Thi Dao.

In addition, Vietnamese archers also entered the men's team compound bow final with the squad of Dang Cong Duc, Pham Ngoc Tu, Tran Xuan Huong. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese men's compound bow team lost with a score of 225-231 to the Bangladesh team in the final, receiving a silver medal.

The 2026 Asian Cup is the first international tournament in 2026 for the Vietnamese archery team. After the tournament, the archers return home to compete in the 2026 National Excellent Archery Tournament.
