Pressure is motivation
Head coach of the Vietnam women's volleyball team - Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet and General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation - Mr. Le Tri Truong shared on June 6 that: "The target of winning the Gold Medal at the 33rd SEA Games for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team is a great pressure on achievements.
With this target, the professional department must work carefully in the preparation work. However, the pressure will be the motivation for the entire Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team to strive for the highest results".
The fact that head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has focused on 20 players in the first phase of 2025 is a professional caution for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team to build a long-term personnel plan.
We do not take risks with assigned performance targets and look directly at reality to prepare, have opportunities forecast. The Vietnam women's volleyball team will have 7 months of training ( extended from April 2025 to November 2025).
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared frankly: We train according to each professional stage and have specific tournaments. Volleyball is a collective sport, the whole team will have the most stable squad and intertwine forces.
During the more than 2 weeks of training up to now, the coaching staff continues to build tactics according to the tactics that have been used throughout the past 2 years.
The setter players of the Vietnam Volleyball Team participating this time are all people who have trained with me through many stages, they have achieved the tactical intentions in the training plan.
It is no coincidence that the manager has targeted the 33rd SEA Games Gold Medal for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. This is the first time the sports industry has assigned such a high task to Vietnamese women's volleyball.
In 2023 and 2024, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team competed and achieved some results in the international arena. The players will compete against many opponents, have accumulation and we will achieve results at the level of AVC Challenge Cup, FIVB Challenge Cup...
When receiving the target of winning the Gold Medal at the 33rd SEA Games, we understood that this was a challenge, but the nature of sports was pressure and athletes needed to overcome themselves, so everyone would try to maximize their abilities, General Secretary Le Tri Truong added.

Winning the Thai women's team is not easy
Southeast Asian volleyball team assessed that the Thai women's team is the number 1 candidate for the Gold Medal at the 33rd SEA Games. This is the host team of the 33rd SEA Games.
In addition, the Thai Women's Team is being led by a leading experienced coach in Southeast Asia - Mr. Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai.
Statistics at the 3 most recent SEA Games held in 2019, 2022, 2023, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team reached the finals but lost to Thailand. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has not won the SEA Games Gold Medal in the competitions.
"Thailand women's volleyball is well prepared. They have a very potential multi-line squad. Not only the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team but also teams like Indonesia and the Philippines are preparing carefully to find a chance to compete against women's Thailand.
The teams have their opportunities but all must understand professional reality to be cautious and know the strength of the Thai Women's Team better than other teams," coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet added.
Recalling the final match of women's volleyball at the 32nd SEA Games (May 2023) in Cambodia, the coaching staff of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team shared that we lost 1-3 to the Thai women's team and won a Silver Medal, but this was a match in which the Thais had to face the Vietnamese women's hitters.
If they are well prepared, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team still has a chance to succeed.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will participate in 5 important international tournaments (AVC Nations Cup 2025, VTV Cup 2025, SEA V.League 2025 (2 rounds), World Championship 2025) and then compete in the 33-2025 SEA Games.
Mr. Kiet said that each Vietnamese player is confident and determined to change the color of the medal at this year's SEA Games.
