On the evening of December 15, the Vietnam women's volleyball team left many regrets when they lost to Thailand in the final match of the 33rd SEA Games.
The match was dramatic as expected by fans. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team had an impressive start when they won the first lightning match, before letting their opponents take the lead in sets 2 and 3. The Vietnamese team then played explosively in the 4th lightning, dragging the match into the deciding set.
Here, the Vietnamese girls created an advantage when leading by 5 points, but Thailand showed their mettle to equalize and win by a narrow margin of 25-23, thereby winning the gold medal.
Despite continuing to suffer the 12th defeat against Thailand in the finals of the SEA Games, the Vietnam women's volleyball team is still highly appreciated for their performance at this Games.
The goal of reaching the final has been completed, while many players maintain stable performance and a determined competitive spirit. Key players such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy or Tran Thi Bich Thuy showed their excellent performance after playing abroad, playing an important role in the overall playing style of the whole team.
To recognize the efforts and achievements of the athletes, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has decided to give the team a bonus of 500 million VND. This not only has the meaning of encouraging spirit, but is also a worthy recognition of the serious preparation process, the resilient fighting spirit and what Vietnamese women's volleyball has shown at the 33rd SEA Games.
