This is not simply a competition for a gold medal, but also a big test for the ambition to change position in the region. The two teams are very familiar with each other in important matches and the upcoming match will be the 12th meeting in the SEA Games final.
However, history is completely on the Thai side when this team won all 11 previous confrontations. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has never won the regional sports festival.
