The 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championship ended on the evening of May 23 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Sports Center.
As the host, the Vietnamese judo fighter competed effectively to win 33 gold medals, 35 silver medals and 51 bronze medals, thereby ranking No. 1 in the medal standings.
Second place is the Indonesian team with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 10 bronze medals. The Thai team ranked third with achievements of 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals.
In the overall standings, after the Vietnamese team is Indonesia with a total of 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 10 bronze medals. The Thai judo team ranked third with a result of 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 4 bronze medals.
The organizers brought into competition events for the resistance team and kata (performance). In which, athletes competed in the championship and youth championship systems in the tournament.
At the tournament, 7 participating teams include Vietnam (host), Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Laos. Only the Lao judo team did not win a medal in the championship and youth championship categories in Bac Ninh this year.
In the result of 33 gold medals, the Vietnamese judo athlete won 7 gold medals in kata events and 26 gold medals in sparring competitions.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championships took place in the combat weight class for the championship system including 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 73kg, 81kg, 90kg, 100kg, over 100kg for men and 44kg, 48kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 70kg, 78kg, over 78kg for women.
In youth competitions, athletes compete in sparring events including 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 73kg, 81kg, 90kg, 100kg, over 100kg (men) and 44kg, 48kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 70kg, 78kg, over 78kg (women).
