The 2026 Asian Judo Championship is still competing in China. However, the Vietnam Judo Team martial artist finished his events early when he was eliminated.
At this year's tournament, the Vietnamese judo team registered 3 martial artists to participate: Ha Ngoc Chi, Lam Thi Ngan Ha and Nguyen Ngoc Diem Phuong.
On the competition day of April 17, martial artist Nguyen Ngoc Diem Phuong competed against opponent Zholdosheva Zhanar (Kyrgyzstan) in the women's 57kg weight class. However, she lost the match, so she was eliminated early in the first round.
Previously, martial artist Ha Ngoc Chi competed in the women's 48kg weight class and won her first match against opponent Ho Lok Yi (Hongkong, China).
After that, Ha Ngoc Chi met a strong opponent Jamsran Anudari (Mongolia), so she accepted defeat and stopped. Ha Ngoc Chi had more opportunities to participate in the Repechage round to enter the bronze medal round. However, the Vietnamese player was unsuccessful.
In the 52kg women's weight class, martial artist Lam Thi Ngan Ha lost to Kadamboeva Sita (Uzbekistan) and was also eliminated.
The 2026 Asian Championship will be held until April 18. The tournament has attracted 197 fighters from 19 countries and territories in the continent to participate.
In the tournament, many fighters preparing for ASIAD 20 also participated, so the Vietnamese judo team had the opportunity to grasp more opponents.
