Vietnamese karate team will change head coach

Head coach Duong Hoang Long is almost certainly not going to continue working at the Vietnamese Karate Team in 2026.

According to research, the Vietnamese karate team will have a plan to change the head coach in 2026.

At the end of SEA Games 33, head coach Duong Hoang Long expressed his wish to resign from training from 2026. Mr. Duong Hoang Long wants to focus more time on professional work at the Hanoi unit at the present time. Therefore, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Karate Team will have a plan to find a new head coach in 2026.

This year, the Vietnamese karate team will prepare for the top important task of competing in ASIAD 20 in September in Japan.

Coach Duong Hoang Long has been assigned the task of head coach of the Vietnamese Karate Team since 2023. Mr. Duong Hoang Long focuses on training boxers in the kumite (combat) event at the Vietnamese Karate Team.

During the period of taking on the role of head coach of the Vietnamese karate team, coach Duong Hoang Long and the players achieved many achievements at the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Asian Championships as well as at SEA Games 32, 33.

At SEA Games 32 in 2023 in Cambodia, the Vietnamese karate team ranked No. 1 with achievements of 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 6 bronze medals. The team continued to maintain the No. 1 position at SEA Games 33 in 2025 in Thailand with results of 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
