27 teams will temporarily stop competing for 2 days, August 10th and August 11th, at the 2026 National Youth Volleyball Championship.
The organizing committee held a national mourning according to regulations for Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, who passed away on August 8.
After the National Funeral ended, the teams returned to compete from August 12.
The tournament is taking place with the first matches of the group stage in the men's and women's groups.
The National Youth Volleyball Championship does not allow teams to transfer players.
Therefore, all players competing are trained and coached by the managing unit, competing according to the prescribed age.
Last year, the women's champion team was Binh Chung Thong Tin and the men's champion was SKH PearNest Khanh Hoa. The two teams continue to participate in this year's tournament.
Binh Chung Thong Tin women's team did not register player Pham Quynh Huong to participate in the 2026 National Youth Championship.
However, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team is still considered a championship candidate this year. This team has 3 Vietnamese U18 women's national team players in the squad competing in the 2026 National Youth Championship: Nguyen Huyen Trang, Le Thi Hang and Nguyen Thi Mai Quynh.
According to the draw of the 2026 National Youth Championship group stage, the teams participating in the group stage include: Group A men: Tay Ninh, Bien Phong MB, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Vinh Long, Da Nang, An Giang;
Group B men: LPBank Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh, Hanoi, The Cong Tan Cang, Ho Chi Minh City, SKH PearNest Khanh Hoa;
Women's Group C: Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Long, Duc Giang Chemical, Hung Yen;
Women's Group D: Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Quang Ninh;
Women's Group E: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietinbank, Information Corps, LPBank Ninh Binh, Long Son Thanh Hoa Cement.
After the group stage, the teams will compete in the quarter-finals and semi-finals before competing for a spot in the men's and women's finals in Ha Tinh this year.
