Bringing the love of volleyball to the people
Director of Dong Anh Culture - Sports - Information Center (Hanoi), Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc said that all staff of the Center worked throughout the tournament days. This is the first time the locality has organized a national tournament, so it was very touching to receive enthusiastic cheers from the people.
Mr. Phuc added that on weekends, the Center strategically invites students from high schools to watch the competition, in order to nurture their love for volleyball early, contributing to building a strong audience for this sport in the future.
The Dong Anh District Multi-purpose Gymnasium (Hanoi) has a capacity of 2,500 seats. In each day of each round in the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, the first match will start at 12 noon. Although it took place early, fans were still crowded to cheer live and sat in 4 stands. At the end of each match, many fans often stop to meet the players and take souvenir photos for themselves.
Snooker Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals) said: "We have always witnessed the fans cheering us on here. The large audience makes the atmosphere more vibrant and the players play enthusiastically on the field".
Coach Thai Quang Lai (VTV Binh Dien Long An) said: "It is surprising that the stadium is always full of spectators watching the competition. We have participated in many tournaments and not all localities have created the same attraction for volleyball as in Dong Anh this time.
For the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the number of spectators entering the stadium to cheer for the tournament is completely calculated based on the number of tickets sold and the estimate of the number of seats filled. Each locality has its own unique sports preferences. However, volleyball is currently considered the most popular sport in Vietnam.
Famous player creates an eye-catching match
General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation Le Tri Truong, present at the Dong Anh District Multi-purpose Gymnasium (Hanoi), assessed that this year the tournament's appeal comes from quality foreign players.
In fact, on the field, 15 teams (except for the Hanoi men's team) all have foreign players in the squad. Through the matches that have taken place, all foreign players have been on the field. Each foreign player has its own appeal, but the star athlete is certainly still noticed.
Soldier Kubiak (Poland) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police men's team is a famous and classy face in world volleyball. Everyone saw that when this player played, the audience was very enthusiastic because everyone wanted to see Kubiak's strong smashes. Or the fact that we have many Cuban players participating in the national championship in Vietnam has brought attraction at this time. Every time I see a player over 2m tall giving a break, everyone will like their eyes", said representative of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation's Professional Supervision Board Tran Thanh Tung.
According to coaches, domestic athletes are still the deciding factor for professional success at the National Volleyball Championship. Volleyball is a collective sport, in which foreign players are only a part of contributing to improving the quality of the squad. If domestic players do not meet the requirements for expertise, performance or lack tactical cohesion, it will be difficult for foreign players to make an impression on the domestic playground.
Therefore, many famous players of Vietnamese volleyball such as: Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Pham Quoc Du, Nguyen Van Hiep, Tu Thanh Thuan, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Tran Tu Linh, Nguyen Thi Tra My... are the bright spots on the field.
Mr. Le Tri Truong said that the competition of domestic and foreign players, creating high-quality matches will contribute to raising the level of the tournament and attracting the attention of the audience. Phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will continue until March 31.
