On the afternoon of July 20, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, New Sports and UPA Asia - the unit that owns the leading professional and amateur pickleball competition system in Asia - held the launch ceremony of the PPA Asia 500 MB Ho Chi Minh City Open 2026 international tournament, marking the return of the leading professional pickleball system in the region in Vietnam.
After exciting legs in Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Macao (China), Tokyo... PPA Tour Asia continues its journey through Singapore before setting foot in Ho Chi Minh City. Continuously being present in the chain of international destinations of PPA Tour Asia helps Vietnam to be more clearly present on the regional pickleball map, while showing the increasing attraction of the domestic pickleball community.
The tournament will take place from August 6 to 9 at New Sports Club, City Park, The Global City, Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with a total prize fund for Pro content worth 70,000 USD and a maximum of 500 points for the champion on the global PPA Tour rankings.
After more than three weeks of registration, the tournament has recorded more than 500 athletes from over 20 countries and territories. Contents for professional and amateur athletes are organized in parallel, creating opportunities for players of many levels to compete on the international standard court system.
The highlight of anticipation is the reunion of the male and female pair Truong Vinh Hien - Sophia Huynh Tran, after the most recent time competing together at PPA Asia 1000 MB Hanoi Cup 2026. The tournament is also expected to feature Collin Johns (former world No. 1 male doubles player) and Jack Wong of Hong Kong (China) with many major titles in the PPA Tour Asia system. The tournament promises to create fierce competition for PPA ranking points and titles in the Ho Chi Minh City stage.
Meanwhile, the Amateur category continues to receive registrations until the end of July 24.
Representatives of the organizing committee said that the tournament will have a system of 16 stadiums that have been upgraded according to PPA Tour Asia standards. Championship Court, Grandstand Court, and 14 Standard stadiums all have roofs and solutions to limit rain, ensuring competition conditions throughout the four days of the tournament.
