Sharing at the press conference before the group stage held at noon on September 14 (Vietnam time), coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that U23 Vietnam has made serious preparations for the tournament and highly appreciates the conditions for organization in Nagoya.
This is a very beautiful and clean city. We are also very impressed with the thoughtful organization of the organizers, from accommodation and living conditions to training grounds," coach Dinh Hong Vinh said.
Hot weather and high humidity in Nagoya are also posed as a problem for participating teams. However, coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that U23 Vietnam did not encounter too many difficulties in the process of adapting.
In fact, the weather conditions in Nagoya are quite similar to the current weather in Vietnam as it is also entering the rainy season. Therefore, we think this is not a big obstacle for the whole team's adaptation," he shared.
Before the first match, the U23 Vietnam coaching staff continued to focus on professional work. On the morning of September 14, the whole team met, watched videos and analyzed the opponents in Group C to complete the tactical plan.
U23 Vietnam also conducted the election of the staff. Pham Ly Duc was trusted to hold the role of captain. The vice-captains include Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Quoc Viet and Nguyen Thanh Nhan.
In the afternoon of September 14, coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team will have their last training session before the opening match, and also visit Nagoya City Minato stadium - the venue for matches in Group C.
Because teams are not allowed to practice directly at the stadium to protect the grass, visiting the stadium is considered an opportunity for players to get acquainted with the playing space before entering the official match.
Speaking about the goals at ASIAD 2026, coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that U23 Vietnam does not want to create more pressure by goals that are too far away, but will focus on solving each match.
We always aim to go as far as possible. My students and I will try our best through each match, always respect our opponents and play our best to achieve the best results," coach Dinh Hong Vinh said.
The coach of U23 Vietnam emphasized: "The first important goal is to get through the group stage, then we will continue to strive to go further in the tournament.
In Group C, U23 Vietnam will meet Kuwait in the opening match on September 15. After that, the team will successively face the Philippines on September 18 and Uzbekistan on September 22.
