The French strategist is likely not to take on a role in the national team or professional club, but will focus on developing young players - a field he had a lot of experience in when working in Vietnam before.
However, the possibility of Mr. Troussier returning to work at major training centers in the country is still open. Previously, after saying goodbye to Vietnamese football in March 2024, the coach born in 1955 had received several job offers but had not reached a suitable agreement.
During the period leading the Vietnamese national team and the U23 Vietnam team from February 2023 to March 2024, coach Philippe Troussier set a goal to build a young force towards major tournaments in the future. His notable achievement is winning a bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games with U23 Vietnam and winning the right to participate in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals.
Besides professional results, Mr. Troussier's mark also lies in giving opportunities to many young players such as Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Thai Son and Nguyen Dinh Bac to play at the national team level.
Before taking on the role of head coach of the Vietnamese national team, Mr. Troussier worked at PVF in the period 2018-2021 and held the position of head coach of the Vietnam U20 team. During this time, he contributed to helping U20 Vietnam win the right to participate in the 2021 AFC U20 Championship finals, although the tournament was later cancelled due to an epidemic.
