On the morning of March 15, at the Cau Giay District Cultural - Sports and Tourism Information Center, Economic & Urban Newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Cau Giay District People's Committee and related units organized the opening ceremony of the first Economic & Urban Newspaper pickleball tournament in 2025.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of Kinh To & Do Do Tu Newspaper, Head of the tournament organizing committee said that the tournament is not only a healthy and useful playground for pickleball lovers but also an opportunity for athletes to exchange, learn, improve their physical strength and spiritual life.
"Through the tournament, we want to improve the physical education and sports movement, develop pickleball in Hanoi, create opportunities for pickleball enthusiasts to compete, share their passion as well as connect social relationships and fans of the new sport of pickleball.
The tournament also aims to encourage sports practice and improve health; contribute to the development of the physical education and sports movement in general and pickleball in particular," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi shared.
The tournament took place from March 15 to March 16 at the Pickleball Court Complex of the Cau Giay District Cultural - Information Sports and Tourism Center, with the participation of more than 400 athletes in 10 events.
The 10 competition events include amateur men's doubles under 40 years old (born in 1986 and later), amateur men's doubles over 40 years old (born in 1985 and earlier), amateur women's doubles under 35 years old (born in 1991 and later), amateur women's doubles over 35 years old (born in 1990 and later), amateur women's doubles under 35 years old (born in 1991 and later), amateur men's women's doubles over 35 years old (born in 1990 and later), expanded men's doubles, expanded men's women's doubles, expanded women's doubles, expanded men's singles.
Regarding the prize structure, the organizing committee will award first, second and third prizes to athletes with achievements with a total value of more than 200 million VND.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, athletes and pairs of athletes competed in the movement event. On March 16, the expansion events will take place. The award ceremony and closing ceremony will be held on the afternoon of March 16.
