On February 26, a press conference was held in Hanoi to announce the 1st Economic & Urban Newspaper Pickleball Tournament - 2025.
The tournament was organized by Kinh To & Do Do Do Du Newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Cau Giay District People's Committee, on the occasion of the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Hanoi City Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025).
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of Kinh Ton & do thi Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee said that the tournament aims to enhance the movement, both developing the sport of pickleball in Hanoi, creating opportunities for pickleball enthusiasts to compete, share their passion as well as connect social relationships and fans of this new sport.
According to the plan, the tournament will gather about 500 athletes, taking place from March 14 to March 16, 2025 at the Pickleball Court Complex of the Cau Giay District Cultural - Information - Sports and Tourism Center. Previously, the draw ceremony took place on March 6, 2025.
This year's pickleball tournament includes 10 competition events: Men's amateur doubles under 40 years old (born in 1986 and later); men's amateur doubles over 40 years old (born in 1985 and earlier); women's amateur doubles under 35 years old (born in 1991 and later); women's amateur doubles over 35 years old (born in 1990 and later); men's amateur doubles under 35 years old (born in 1991 and later); men's amateur doubles over 35 years old (born in 1990 and later); men's amateur doubles; men's and women's amended doubles; women's amended doubles; men's amended doubles; men's amended doubles.
According to regulations, in the women's doubles - men's doubles and mixed doubles (for male athletes): athletes who are national grandmasters, coaches of pickleball, tennis, table tennis, badminton are not allowed to participate in the movement.
In addition, pickleball athletes who have won first and second prizes over 17 years old in the events of the National Club Pickleball Cup; VVP tour system, VNtimes; athletes who have won international prizes or have PICKLEBALL VIETNAM 3.5+ scores are also not allowed to participate in the movement event.
Regarding the prize structure, for the movement event, the prize structure including the cup and cash for the champion team is 5 million VND, the second prize is 3 million VND, the third prize is 2 million VND.
For the men's doubles, men's doubles, women's doubles, the prize structure including the cup and cash for the champion team is 15 million VND, the second prize is 7 million VND, the third prize is 5 million VND.
Regarding the competition format, the organizing committee divided the group to play a round-robin: 1 set of 11 points touched 6 points for a change of bid. From the quarter-finals to the semi-finals, there will be a set of 15 points. The final round is a 15-point set. The automatic calculation when in the group with the same score is the goal difference first and then the confrontation.
The tournament applies the competition rules according to the USAP format.
