Coach Ishii has a new job after saying goodbye to the Thai team

Less than a week after saying goodbye to the Thai team, coach Masatada Ishii has quickly found a new destination in Thai League 1.

The Japanese strategist was appointed as head coach of BG Pathum United club.

On the homepage, BG Pathum announced: BG Pathum United Club is happy to welcome Mr. Masatada Ishii to become the head coach.

He brings valuable experience from the J.League, having led teams such as Kashima Antlers and Omiya Ardija. Ishii helped Kashima Antlers win the J.League, the Imperial Cup and runner-up at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2016".

Thus, coach Ishii continues to be associated with Thai football, where he has left many impressions since 2019. In his first season in the Thai League with Samut Prakan City, he helped the team finish in 6th place.

After that, as the captain of Buriram United, he brought home 2 Thai League championships, 2 League Cups and 2 Revo Cups in the period of 2021-2023.

In 2023, Ishii was appointed by the Football Association of Thailand as the head coach of the national team. Under his leadership, the "War Elephants" reached the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.

However, poor results in the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers have led to FAT deciding to terminate his contract.

BG Pathum's appointment of Masatada Ishii is considered an effort to strengthen professional strength, as this team is aiming to return to the top of the Thai League this season.
