Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Ito Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of a number of departments, branches and Japanese enterprises operating in production and business in Vietnam.
This year's tournament is organized under the coordination of Kawasaki Frontale Co., Ltd., Becamex IDC, Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd. and Becamex Binh Duong Football Club.
The organizers said this is the 6th time the Vietnam and Japan U13 international youth football tournament has taken place.
At this year's tournament, host Vietnam has 6 representatives including: Becamex Binh Duong, Hanoi, An Giang, Hue, Navy Phu Nhuan (HCMC) and Dong Thap.
Meanwhile, Japan has 5 teams: Kawasaki Frontale Todoroki, Vegalta Sendai Junior Youth, Shimizu S-Pulse Mishima, Yokohama FC Tsurumi, Tokyo and 1 representative from Malaysia, FELDA Football Academy.
Right after the opening ceremony, the first match of the tournament took place between U13 Becamex Binh Duong and U13 Kawasaki Frontale Todoroki. The matches of the tournament will take place from today until December 15 at Sora Garden football field, Binh Duong new city.
The tournament is held with the aim of exchanging football culture, training young players, developing Japanese and Vietnamese football, and introducing Japanese football to football fans in Vietnam.
The organizers said that the tournament was held for the first time in 2018, this is a meaningful sporting event connecting the two countries of Vietnam and Japan. The tournament is not only a place for excellent football teams to compete, but also an opportunity to exchange, connect and honor the sporting and cultural spirit between the two countries.
