In less than a week, the women's competition of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship will begin. Currently, the teams are practicing hard, looking forward to the upcoming matches.
After the first stage, the women's team of the Signal Corps is leading the rankings. According to setter Lam Oanh, she and her teammates hope to make it to the semi-finals. To do this, coach Pham Minh Dung and his team must make efforts right from the group stage. One of the faces receiving high expectations is opposite setter Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh.
In 2024, fans will not be able to witness many of Kieu Trinh's performances in the national team jersey like in 2023 because she is not in the best physical condition after the injury. The Quang Binh native still participates in tournaments with the team, but her playing frequency is not high and her scoring efficiency is not high.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have the return of opposite setter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen in 2024. However, although Bich Tuyen can attack well and plays the role of a "scorer", Kieu Trinh's importance to the national team is not reduced because in addition to her sharp attacking ability, she also defends and catches the first step quite well, playing aggressively.
Returning to the club, Kieu Trinh and Lam Oanh are two players who play an important role in the gameplay of the Information Corps women's team. In the first phase of the 2024 national championship, Kieu Trinh made a great contribution to helping the army team win the top spot with 4 wins and 1 loss.
The setter from Quang Binh showed precision and decisiveness in each attack. At the same time, the defensive ability and first step of "Miss Volleyball Vietnam" also improved significantly.
Thanks to her cleverness and sophistication in handling the ball, the player born in 2001 scored many points, actively entered the defense, took the first step and blocked well with foreign player Pleumjit Thinkaow at that time. The 23-year-old female player also caused difficulties for the opponent many times with tricky serving situations. Serving is also one of the skills that Kieu Trinh is highly appreciated for.
Although still in the process of recovering from injury, with good tactical vision and good coordination with setter Lam Oanh, Kieu Trinh is certainly still a great hope in coach Pham Minh Dung's squad.
Although leading the rankings, the gap between the Information Corps and the opponents behind is very close. They are only 1 point ahead of the second-placed team VTV Binh Dien Long An and 2 points ahead of the third-placed team LPB Ninh Binh.
To ensure maintaining the top position, Kieu Trinh and her teammates must aim for a complete victory in the second phase, starting from November 7 in Lao Cai. According to the match schedule, the Information Corps will meet Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals on November 7, VTV Binh Dien Long An on November 8 and LPB Ninh Binh on November 9.
