swimmer Nguyen Thuy Hien was officially awarded a place by the World figurehead Sports Federation (FINA) to compete in the 2025 World Youth Swimming Championship in Romania from August 16 to 25.
In addition to Nguyen Thuy Hien, the Vietnam Youth Swimming Team has Tuyet Han, Kha Nhi, Hoang Quy, Nguyen Quoc participating. This is a rare time for Vietnamese swimmers to win many places to participate in the World Youth Swimming Championship like this year.
Nguyen Thuy Hien is a face with good expertise, winning many gold medals at domestic tournaments and age groups in Southeast Asia and Asia.
Last June, she won the title of best young female athlete at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Swimming Championship held in Singapore. In the above tournament, Nguyen Thuy Hien broke four records for the 16-18 age group for women in the women's 50m frog event, women's 50m freestyle event, women's 50m butterfly event and women's 100m freestyle event.
After the 2025 World Youth Championship, the coaching staff of the Vietnam Swimming Team will continue to select athletes to prepare for the Asian Swimming Championship in October. Nguyen Thuy Hien is considered for the opportunity to compete in the above tournament.
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Youth Swimming Team said that in the year the players competed in the 2025 World Youth Swimming Championship, they will strive to achieve the best professional results for themselves. In history, Vietnamese swimming has not had any athletes win medals at the world youth championship.
