Male athlete Pham Thanh Bao met a direct opponent, the reigning 19th ASIAD champion Qin Haiyang (China) at the 2025 World Swimming Championship.

Pham Thanh Bao competed in the qualifying round of the men's 200m frog swimming event at the 2025 World Swimming Championship on the morning of July 31 in Singapore.

The content has 5 qualifying rounds. Pham Thanh Bao was entered into the 3rd qualifying round. In this round, the athlete who won the gold medal in the 200m men's freestyle at the 19th ASIAD is Qin Haiyang (China) competing with him.

After starting from swimming pool No. 9, Pham Thanh Bao tried to speed up. However, our player finished in 10th place with a result of 2 minutes 25 seconds 73. The achievement was not enough to help Thanh Bao enter the semi-finals of the event.

Pham Thanh Bao achieved a result of 2 minutes 18 seconds 58 in the 200m annual frog Swimming event at the 2024 World Swimming Championship. This result is improved compared to the previous record.

However, the Singapore statistics are still inferior to Thanh Bao's own achievement of winning the gold medal in the men's 200m freestyle at the 32nd SEA Games in 2 minutes, 11 seconds and 45 seconds. Currently, the result is a national record for Vietnamese swimming.
