Five Vietnamese swimmers, including Nguyen Thuy Hien, have finished the 2025 World Youth Swimming Championship in Romania.
On the final day of competition, Nguyen Thuy Hien finished second in the sixth qualifying round of the women's 200m freestyle event with a time of 2 minutes 04 seconds 59. However, she did not win a place in the semi-finals and ranked 26th overall.
Yesterday (8.23), Nguyen Thuy Hien competed in the women's 50m freestyle event and finished 26th (accounting for 26 seconds23). At this tournament in Romania, Nguyen Thuy Hien participated in five events.
On August 24, the Vietnam Youth Swimming Team also had Duong Van Hoang Quy compete in the men's 200m butterfly and achieved a time of 2 minutes 01 second 48, but did not make it to the final. Hoang Quy has finished 14th overall.
In this year's tournament, Vietnamese swimming has five standard players including Nguyen Thuy Hien, Duong Van Hoang Quy, Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, Nguyen Kha Nhi, Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han.
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Youth Swimming Team assessed these as potential players in Vietnamese sports. After competing in Romania, the Vietnam Youth Swimming Team did not win any medals. However, athletes have accumulated significant experience.
After the 2025 World Youth Championship, athletes will prepare to participate in the 2025 National Swimming Championship and the 2025 Asian Championship.
