Lai Ly Huynh is one of the faces of Ho Chi Minh City chess who won a gold medal in the rapid, blitz, and super blitz chess events at the 2026 National Team Championship being held in Thai Nguyen.
By the end of the above events, the Ho Chi Minh City chess team is temporarily achieving 18 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals to lead the overall standings.
Temporarily holding the second place is Dong Nai team and the third place is Bac Ninh team.
Currently, chess players continue to compete in the standard chess event.
In his competition efforts, Lai Ly Huynh won a gold medal in the men's doubles blitz chess event.
The No. 1 male chess player of Vietnamese chess, competing with teammates Dao Cao Khoa and Nguyen Phuc Loi, defeated Dong Nai team to win the championship in the above event.
According to regulations, each team is allowed to register 2 official players and 1 reserve player in the doubles event.
In addition to Lai Ly Huynh, top Chinese chess players of Ho Chi Minh City such as Nguyen Hoang Yen, Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang, Dam Thi Thuy Dung, Lai Quynh Tien, Diep Khai Nguyen... also won gold medals in rapid chess, blitz chess, and blitz chess events.
Among the 18 gold medals so far, the Ho Chi Minh City chess team also has the men's individual rapid chess championship of player Tran Thanh Tan and the women's individual rapid chess championship of Nguyen Hoang Yen.
In the blitz chess results, player Nguyen Phuc Loi (HCMC) won the men's individual gold medal while Nguyen Hoang Yen (HCMC) won the women's individual championship.
In the blitz chess competition, the men's individual gold medal was Nguyen Anh Duc (HCMC) and Ho Thi Thanh Hong (Gia Lai) won the women's individual championship.
The tournament continues to compete in the standard men's and women's chess events until the final round on July 22.
