Lai Ly Huynh participated in 2 chess tournaments Ky Thanh Boi 2026 (ASEAN - China 2026) from May 21 to 24 and the Xuan Khau Dai Diep Boi 2026 tournament from May 29 to 31.
In the latest competition at the Xuan Khau Dai Diep Boi 2026 tournament, Lai Ly Huynh was eliminated due to losing 4 matches in his opening games.
The Xuan Khau Dai Diep Boi 2026 tournament takes place in 2 red and black groups. Ly Huynh is the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the red group with Chinese chess players Tao Nham Loi, Vuong Vu Bac. The black group of the tournament has 3 chess players Manh Than, Manh Phon Due and Trieu Phan Vi (competing in June).
In the first and second legs against Cao Nham Lei and Vuong Vu Bac, Lai Ly Huynh both lost. Therefore, the Vietnamese player lost the opportunity to advance and was also the first face to be eliminated.
Previously, at the Ky Thanh Boi tournament (ASEAN - China 2026), Lai Ly Huynh was admitted to the final round without having to compete in the preliminary round.
In the final round, Ly Huynh passed the first match. In the second match, Ly Huynh lost to Chinese player Hoang Quang Dinh and was eliminated. In this tournament, Vietnamese player Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang also participated but lost to host player Luu Bach Hoanh and stopped.
Since winning the 2025 world championship, Lai Ly Huynh has been invited by Chinese chess to participate in many tournaments with top players participating. In which, Ly Huynh won the runner-up position at the Ngu Duong Boi 2026 chess tournament in early March.
