The 2025 Asian Youth Chess Championship ended on November 30 in Thailand. The chess event took place in the final rounds of the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 groups for men and women.
On the last day of the chess event, the Vietnam Chess Team recognized the excellence of young player Nguyen Xuan Phuong in the U10 men's group.
Competing in 9 games, Xuan Phuong scored a total of 8 points and held the No. 1 position with the gold medal. The Hanoi male player won 8 and lost 1 (against Anetov Amirzhan (Kazakhstan)) in the matches. In this event, player Nguyen Tan Vinh won the bronze medal (7 points).
In addition to the individual chess results, Vietnamese chess also won the gold medal with the U10 men's rapid chess team (Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Tan Vinh, Le Phan Hoang Quan).
In the chess event, the Vietnam Chess Team also won individual medals from Nguyen Tran Gia Vuong (men's U8 silver medal), Dau Khuong Duy (men's U14 silver medal), Dinh Nho Kiet (men's U16 silver medal), Nguyen Minh Chi (men's U14 bronze medal), Mai Hieu Linh (women's U16 silver medal), Nguyen Ha Khanh Linh (men's U18 silver medal).
Snooker Peng Gia Huy competed in the men's U18 chess tournament but did not win an individual medal. After this tournament, Bang Gia Huy will participate in the 33rd SEA Games also held in Thailand.
