The VFF delegation led by VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu is attending the FIFA 2026 Summit, and also attending the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico.
According to the plan, the program takes place from June 10 to June 17, 2026 with many activities for leaders of FIFA member federations. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is currently a member of the FIFA Competition Committee, while Mr. Nguyen Van Phu is a member of the FIFA Medical Committee.
The official series of activities began on the evening of June 10 in Mexico with a welcome party held at Castillo de Chapultepec - a famous historical site of Mexico. The VFF delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup taking place at 1:00 PM on June 11 local time.
World Cup 2026 marks a historic milestone when 48 teams participate in the finals for the first time. The opening match between host Mexico and South Africa takes place at Estadio Azteca stadium. After that, the VFF delegation continues to attend the match between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Miami on June 15.
The focus of the working trip is the FIFA 2026 Summit held in Miami (USA). The plenary session on June 14 focused on strategic reports, development orientations and FIFA's priorities in the new period.
Meanwhile, the in-depth discussion sessions on June 15 revolved around key topics such as innovation, sustainable development and improving football governance efficiency. Many FIFA development programs will be discussed, including FIFA Forward, FIFA Arena, FIFA Football for Schools or the Boots for All campaign to support football equipment for member countries.
The conference also shared experiences from the FIFA U15 Festival in youth training, and studied the sports model in the US to find management and operation solutions suitable to the modern development trend of world football.
In addition to meetings, FIFA also organizes many practical activities for delegates such as visiting the FIFA Museum, the Tournament Operations Center and the stadium of Inter Miami.
On the occasion of attending the event, VFF leaders also had meetings and working sessions with representatives of FIFA, member federations and many international football organizations to strengthen cooperative relations, expand professional exchange opportunities, and serve the development and integration strategy of Vietnamese football in the coming time.
