Mr. Luu Tu Bao is holding the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City MMAF (HMMAF) for the first term (2022 - 2027). However, for more than half a year, Mr. Bao has been abroad, absent from Vietnam, and has not directly participated in the activities of the Federation.
That has caused conflicting information, especially when some overseas news sites reported that Mr. Luu Tu Bao was involved in troubles in the US.
After receiving a request from the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, reporting on Mr. Luu Tu Bao's long-term absence, HMMAF held an online Executive Committee Conference on September 8, with the presence of 9/15 members.
According to the conclusion given by the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of HMMAF, Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign a power of attorney to manage HMMAF activities for Ms. Do Thu Trang - Vice President of HMMAF, for a term of March 2026.
While waiting for the authorization letter from Mr. Luu Tu Bao, Ms. Do Thu Trang will temporarily manage the activities of the Federation. Talking with Lao Dong, Ms. Bui Thi Nhat Le - General Secretary of HMMAF confirmed this information.
HMMAF has also reported this to the direct management unit, the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, in the coming time, if the Federation receives any conclusions from the authorities related to Mr. Luu Tu Bao, HMMAF will take further actions. In particular, the Federation can hold an extraordinary meeting to elect a new president.
Before HMMAF, the Vietnam Boxing Federation - where Mr. Luu Tu Bao is also the president - temporarily assigned the executive power to Vice President Nguyen Duy Hung until March 2026, replacing Mr. Luu Tu Bao in his absence.
